What makes our products special?

As all our meat products come from pigs born and bred on our own doorstep in Yorkshire, we can fully account for their traceability. We pride ourselves on the quality and taste of our meat, also on the expertise of our highly skilled team of butchers. The extremely positive feedback we receive from customers old and new provides the best testament to all the products we offer.

How is my order dealt with?

Once you have placed an order on our website you will be given an expected delivery day, and will also receive a confirmation e-mail.

How is my order prepared?

Your order will be freshly prepared, vacuum-packed and placed into specially insulated cartons. These contain state-of-the-art ice gel packs, which keep your order chilled for up to two days.

How will my order be delivered?

All deliveries will be made by recognised courier and all packages must be signed for, so it becomes your responsibility to ensure that someone is at the address to accept delivery.

What if I am not at home for delivery?

There is an option to provide specific delivery instructions, for example a safe place to leave the goods (possibly a neighbour) should nobody be in. If such information is provided, the courier will be informed accordingly.

How do I know that my card details are safe to put on the Internet?

What do I do if I have any problems?

Just call us on 01943 609436 and we will be happy to answer any queries or help with any problems you may experience.

When I receive my order how long will it keep?

Each order is contained in a frozen gel cooling pack which ensures the products remain at the correct temperature for at least 48 hours. We send out all our products vacuum packed, a natural way to keep the meat fresher for longer, with a best before date" on. It follows that meat products should be placed in the fridge prior to eating.

Is my order suitable for freezing?

Yes. Vaccuum packaging is ideal as it is suitable for home freezing and also helps keep the meat succulent.

What is the best way to cook my meat products?

While people have differing tastes, to fully appreciate the full flavour of our products we recommend they should not be overcooked (if not already pre-cooked – eg our cooked hams). Do not cook products straight from their packaging, but open and allow them to rest before cooking, best done by standing at room temperature on a plate and covering with foil. Cooking is then a matter of preference (see the recipe ideas on our website). How many people will one of your hams feed?

Much depends on the carver and the preferences of the people who are eating it! However, as a rule of thumb, we reckon a whole ham (on the bone) of around 6kg will provide 60 to 70 slices, and a half ham about 30 servings. Our larger joints are ideal for special occasions where a large number of people need to be catered for, though a general point to remember about ham is that it doesn’t all have to be eaten in one go!

Where should I keep my ham?

An uncooked, dry-cured ham can realistically be hung up for weeks in a suitably cool place such as a larder, shed, loft or garage, but please remember it should be well protected from pests and flies. A cooked ham belongs in the fridge and the "best before date" label assumes you will be storing it at below 5°C.
